Need tips on booking trip to disney/orlando. any good all inclusive deals anyone knows about?
Here are things that will cut down on costs, but in all honesty you have to remember the term "you get what you pay for." Whenever I answer a question about deals and staying on Disney property I always answer the same way. Book directly through Disney and stay on property. You can get great inclusive deals through Disney themselves, and they have a package and a resort that will fit any budget. Contrary to what many think Disney saves the best deals for themselves, not third party booking agents. You can try places like AAA or Priceline, but be prepared. Many people I know have regretted booking that way, because Disney only allows a certain number of rooms to go to these agents and the cost savings is minor, and in many cases non-existent. Plus the rooms that they save for agents like this are the least desireable in many cases. (That came straight from a cast member when I was there last April.) Disney has cast members that make it very easy to book your trip and plenty of info available to make the most of your choices.
As for staying off property, IMHO I think staying at a Disney resort is the only way to go. There are things that Disney offers that no other hotel or resort can offer; the famous Disney service and PERKS!! Disney takes great care of their resort guests. For example, they offer the Magical Express, which is a FREE shuttle to and from the Orlando Int'l Airport. They offer Extra Magic Hours, where one park opens early and one late for resort guests only. There is the use of the transportation system, so you won't have to drive to and from Disney every day, you just walk over to the bus stop (or monorail stop or boat dock if those options are available) and you go wherever you want. The off site hotels do offer shuttle service, but you have to schedule it separately, you end up being on their schedule not your own, and in some cases it costs extra. The cost savings of staying off site is minimal when you take into account what you get for your money. Not to mention the Disney dining plan, which will save a ton of money as well.
I hope this helps. If you are looking for more info, check out the Disney website first. They have a resort comparison tool and a way to get quotes for your vacation right on the site. Also, check out the disboards. The disboards is a message board website that is all about going to Disney, with people that are on it that go often and know what they are talking about. You can get trip reports, resort reviews, restaurant reviews, tips for avoiding crowds, tips for travel, and much more. I put both links below. I would also suggest going to the bookstore and picking up the Birnbaum's guide to WDW. There are a ton of guide books out there but that is the one that has worked best for us.
Have a great trip!!
